Scrubbing Your Face

Acne can happen to anyone, whether you’ve struggled your whole life or just the occasional problem. Many people see it as their skin being dirty when it’s actually a hormone problem. Over-washing your face, especially with a harsh scrub, will only exacerbate the problem.

Washing in the Shower

You want to wash your face and body after rinsing out shampoo and conditioner because many contain ingredients like isopropyl myristate, which will clog your pores.

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking a little too much happens, especially with all the holiday parties coming up, and we forget to hydrate properly. When you don’t drink enough water, your skin will dry out and look very unhealthy. Make sure you drink enough every day and when consuming alcohol, alternate drinks with glasses of water.

Poor Diet

We might assume that a diet high in saturated fat and sugar will result in weight gain but it changes your insides in a way that affects your outside. Hormonal changes occur with a poor diet, leading to acne and oily or dry skin.

In general, to keep your skin healthy, you should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep, drinking plenty of water, and wearing sunscreen. For those over 30, using a retinoid, vitamin A, will prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles.
