Dermaplaning

What Is Dermaplaning:

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion, but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. A sterile surgical blade is used by a trained medical skincare specialist specifically for this purpose. Dermaplaning is a highly effective way to resurface the skin and is a highly effective method for leveling out uneven surfaces on the face. Dermaplaning is gentle and does not break the capillaries on the face, which more aggressive exfoliators may do. As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows for better product penetration, increases absorption of chemical peels while helping to reduce appearance of fine lines and even skin tone.

Who Benefits From Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is recommended for individuals of all skin types, except those with acneic skin. Dermaplaning is a safe exfoliation alternative to chemical peels for pregnant women or mothers who are breastfeeding.

A Dermaplaning treatment can help patients concerned about:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Surface irregularities

After scraping off dead skin cells and the fine, vellus hair (“peach fuzz” or “baby hairs”), the skin is immediately smoother and softer to the touch. Dermaplaning is an excellent treatment whether you want a refreshed appearance before an important social event, or you just want to restore a subtle, youthfullooking shine to your skin.

Another benefit of Dermaplaning is that it helps skin care products penetrate deeper into the skin and helps create a flawless canvas for applying makeup.
