Dr. Bruce E. Fearon Earns Certification by the American Board of Phlebology

For Immediate Press Release

Lee’s Summit, MO –09/15/08 – The American Board of Phlebology (ABPh) has announced that Dr. Bruce Fearon has earned board certification in the specialty of Phlebology. Phlebology is a branch of medicine that specializes in vein diseases.  Dr. Fearon was board certified by the ABPh in July of 2008.  This is the first board examination ever offered by the American Board of Phlebology and includes only 248 physicians nationwide.

We are very pleased to announce this important accomplishment by Dr. Fearon.  The certification with the American Board of Phlebology reflects his knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating venous diseases.

To become an ABPh diplomate, an applicant must complete the requisite training or experience qualifications, meet the continuing medical education requisites, and pass a stringent certification examination. Certification periods are ten years and maintenance will be dependent on the ability of the diplomate to display competency in four areas of assessment:
1) evidence of professional standing
2) evidence of commitment to lifelong-learning and periodic self-assessment
3) evidence of cognitive expertise
4) evaluation of performance in practice

Summit Skin and Vein Care located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, provides comprehensive evaluation and management of lower leg problems related to poor vein circulation.  Dr. Fearon has performed over fifteen hundred Endovenous Ablations and a similar number of ultrasound guided injections to help resolve lower leg symptoms.  Venous Disease affects over 50% of patients over the age of 50 with at least a third of those patients being symptomatic.  Insurance and Medicare now cover the types of procedures that Dr. Fearon offers.  These procedures are minimally invasive, have little to no down time and represent the latest advancements available in vein treatment technology.

Summit Skin and Vein Care, in conjunction with the American Venous Forum, offers Free Duplex Screenings on a daily basis to heighten patient’s awareness of vein disease. These free screenings are offered because venous disease is not always visible and also because most private imaging centers and hospitals fail to evaluate the superficial venous system during routine venous doppler exams. The superficial system of veins is frequently implicated in causing lower leg symptoms. Symptoms of superficial vein disease include: swelling of the leg(s), muscle cramps at night, restless legs, thrombophlebitis, skin changes such as stasis dermatitis and even accounts for approximately 80% of lower leg ulcerations.   Call 816-554-VEIN (8346) for a Free Quick Scan today!
